Sharpie Mustache Mug

I mustache you for some coffee right MEOW!
I am a complete coffee addict and I wanted to restyle some old mugs that I had.  It's really easy to do!

I saw this on Pinterest once again and I just couldn't resist myself! a Beautiful Mess is one of my favorite blogs and if you haven't checked them out yet I insist you click on their picture featured below.  They did a cuter, classier design for their coffee mugs...

Whereas I went for the straight up macho, mustache pun design :)

Materials you'll need:
  • Coffee mug
  • Black Sharpie
    • 1 thin tipped Sharpie
    • 1 regular Sharpie
  • Oven heated to 350 degree's

Here's a Visual of the Directions:

Directions:
Step 1: Clean & Prep
Clean the coffee mug you'll be using.  Also, figure out what you want to put on your mug.
I always find pictures and then use those as a reference when I'm drawing.  I wish I could just draw what I see in my mind, but I'm artistically not that person.

Step 2: Draw your Design
I used a thin tipped Sharpie marker to draw the outline of my designs and then filled it in with the regular Sharpie.
Tip: It was also easier to wipe off the thin tipped Sharpie marker when I messed up.

Step 3: Oven Time
Preheat your oven to 350 degree's and when it's ready place your pretty new mug into the oven so that your design can be sealed onto the surface.

Keep it in the oven for 35 minutes.

Step 4: Enjoy
Protect your mittens when pulling your mug out of the oven.
Let the mug cool and give it a wash before using it.
Have fun with your designs and as always, leave a comment or question below! :)

I did a Zentangle design on another mug. With polka dots too!

Namaste my friends :)

  1. I never realized you could use a sharpie to do this. I thought you needed a special type of paint pen. I am excited and looking forward to trying this.

  2. I always thought that too and I never wanted to spend the money to buy them! I however have no problem buying an overabundance of Sharpies :) Have fun designing!
